It's been.
It'd been a few days, weeks and months.
I look back and cannot believe it's March.
How?
For the last few weeks I've been facing burnout or a mental health crisis.
And luckily the tools I've worked so hard to build over the years worked to avoid a mental health crisis.
I took some time away with my friends and some time to reflect on all that's been happening. This space allowed me to create some time to checkin with myself.
Although I realize that I have a lot of work left to do to build my mental resilience, emotional stability and social wellness, there is a relief I feel when I don't lose it in the morning.
I decided for today' post, we're chatting mental well being. I often discuss wellness in general, but today we're focusing on our mind.
Mental well-being, encompasses a broad and balanced consideration of one's psychological, emotional, and social health.
Lets get one thing clear- It's not the absence of mental health disorders or symptoms, but a positive state wherein an YOU thrive, realizing YOUR own abilities, and being able to cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully, and are able to make contributions to their community.
We reside in a fast-paced world that can often feel like a whirlwind. Each day presents new challenges, often prompting thoughts of being part of an elaborate reality show.
I like to imagine myself in this chaos, the determined rebel ( they're within each of us), a warrior prepared to face the storm head-on, not merely to endure it but to flourish in its midst.
How can we seize control of our mental well-being, and turn obstacles into opportunities for growth?
Mental Health is Health
Our minds are the engines of our existence, yet we often inundate them with endless to-dos, worries, and the digital cacophony of pings, rings, and dings.
We must learn to take a moment to pause, take a deep breath, and decide that from this moment forward, you're going to prioritize your mental well-being. That's your inner rebel awakening, challenging the status quo of constant hustle of life.
Redefining Strength
True strength? It's vulnerable. It's authentic. It's acknowledging when the weight becomes too heavy and understanding that seeking help is akin to lifting weights to become stronger. Mental health is not a solo journey. By openly discussing our struggles and accomplishments, we weave a tapestry of shared humanity, stronger together in our vulnerabilities.
True strength lies in vulnerability and authenticity. Acknowledging when we need help is a sign of true strength and as mom's we often think we can do it all. We can't.
I know it's cliche of me but seeking help IS like lifting weights - you grow and improve your residency by allowing space to rest.
Id like to remind you that a mental health is not a journey to be taken alone.
Openly discussing our struggles and successes creates a bond of shared humanity, especially with a trusted professional.
Embracing the Art of Self-Care
Self-care isn't just bubble baths and spa days; it's an act of TRUE authenticity (and we be rebels here) by taking care of ourseves TRULY. I BY this simple act, we accept that you are worthy of time and space. Self care is crafting rituals that nourish not just the body but the soul. For some, it's the first sip of morning coffee in silence, for others, it’s sweating it out on a long run, hot yoga sessions or a kickboxing session. It could be drawing and even coloring. Taking moments to pause amidst life’s chaos. Remember your well-being is non-negotiable.
Next week we'll dive into self care- and how you can build resilience 🤘🏽
